Customer’s problem: Baksanskaya HPP is one of the oldest in Russia, built in 1930. The main problem is the presence of a large amount of solid impurities in the water entering the turbine: quartz sand, particles of tungsten and molybdenum ore. As a result, turbine parts are subject to strong abrasive wear.
Plakart Solution: HVOF deposition with Plakart material - 0.08-H. In the process of preparatory processing of parts, defects were identified (shells, grooves along the weld due to poor-quality welding). The problem was solved by manual machining of parts, followed by welding defects and grinding under spraying.

This solution provides an increase in the service life of the labyrinth seal rings by several times as compared with uncoated parts. Plakart coating application - 0.08-Н is laid in the project documentation, which makes it possible to present this solution to design and production organizations of the industry for similar projects.
